Acadian Contractors is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Cocoa, FL

  • DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Description
      • The Equipment Operator position requires the person to demonstrate the ability to safely operate equipment
        • Forklift
        • Dozer
        • Grader
        • Tractor
        • Skid Steer
      • To be proficient in moving equipment/materials without causing damage, maintain Heavy Equipment in good working condition, notify Yard Superintendent or Project Manager when any maintenance and/or repairs are required, and work efficiently and productively throughout workday.
      • The Equipment Operator is ultimately responsible for the safety of all personnel involved in lifting activities, adequacy of lifting gear utilized, ensuring that equipment/materials are not damaged during lifts, and their level of productivity
        • NOTE: It should be noted, that if an Equipment Operator is not certified or does not have the training to operate all types of Heavy equipment for which the operator has been deemed competent. Training must be scheduled, and the Operations Manager must be notified.
      • Education
        • Preferably high school diploma or equivalent
      • Experience
        • 2-year minimum experience in Equipment Operation
      • Duties
        • Daily and Routine Inspections
        • Check all fluids in machine
        • Blowing out air filter twice a week or three times a week
        • Keep machine greased every week
        • Check slings every day and tags can be read clearly
        • Have pins in shackles every time they are being used
        • Keep machine full of fuel
        • Have a maintenance report done everyday
        • Report all damages and incidents to supervisor
        • Make sure if using straps that they are checked and that tags can be read clearly
        • Make sure that there are pins in shackles each time that they are in use
        • Keep chains lubricated at all times
        • Do not leave trash in cab and keep inside of cab clean and swept out
        • Always have tag lines on machine and ensure that taglines are being use on every lift.
        • Make sure if you use hook that they have safety latches on them
        • Check cables on drums regularly
        • Look at all crane pins to make sure that the cotter pins are in
        • Check and make sure decals are good and noticeable
        • Ensure you are writing the correct department name and Job # on all daily time descriptions
        • Complete and discuss a thorough JSA prior to each task.
        • Be willing to perform tasks outside of equipment operation when called upon to do so.
        • You are ultimately responsible for operation equipment as per equipment operating manual.
        • Always have a positive attitude towards customers being serviced as well as ACI as a company.

        • Adhere to all “Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management Systems Manual” policies, procedures, safe work & best practices guidance as well as regulatory and client site specific policies and procedures.
        • Make a personal commitment and be accountability for the HSE results, driving towards achievement of HSE goals. Support your team members by coaching, mentoring others to achieve the desired results.
        • Accept and improve when coached and mentored to improve on HSE processes demonstrating ownership of the results of process implementation.
  • TRAINING
    • Each operator must be specifically trained and authorized on each type of heavy equipment before being assigned work operations.
